Modelling progress

I made the bobbin out of a pipe and cut cylinders out around the edges.

I gave him a pear shaped body and put creases around the neck.

Plot Revision

I got some feedback on my plot and I've decided to cut the first part where Bob sees the shadow because the purpose of it was to show that he was lonely, but I think I could get this across through his body language and sound effects.

Character

Bob sees a shadow and races after it, a thread of his gets caught on a pin.

He sees it was just a shadow and realises how lonely he is. Then he notices his thread and goes back to pick it up.

.

He looks from the thread to the material and has an idea

He waves hello to the doll but it doesn't wake up. So he gives it one of his button eyes, and then it comes to life.

I have based my character on the words ragdoll, bobbin and patchwork for material, motion and meaning respectively.

Project 2A

I've been thinking about the 'meaning' for this project. One of the words I'm considering is patchwork. My character could be assembled out of scraps or other objects and it could find something else and patch it up.

Azurite

Azurite is the name of a bright blue carbonate mineral made my oxidising copper. Azurite can absorb water to become Malachite which is green. I named my form Azurite because it also has this 'tranforming' quality in water.

Draft Render 1

I like the way this material turns up in renders.

Working 1

I modeled the first rock from a sphere and used the surface shatter effect to break it apart. I went to the waterfront and took this photo of the concrete that I'm using for my texture.

I also took videos of the sea that I'm using for my second stage.
